Midwifery Model of Care
We support low risk, healthy women in physiologic labor and birth. We do not perform services that increase your risk for complications and interventions.
Holistic care begins with your first visit and continues throughout your pregnancy with tailored care. Our focus is on the prevention of problems through nutritional support, exercise, natural and herbal recommendations and utilizing allopathic resources as needed. Birth, breastfeeding and recovery are all better when women are prepared, confident and well-supported! We complete risk assessments to best serve you throughout care and have relationships with collaborative providers.
The Midwives Model of Care™ is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life events. The Midwives Model of Care includes:
-
monitoring the physical, psychological and social well-being of the mother/birthing parent throughout the childbearing cycle
-
providing the mother/birthing parent with individualized education, counseling, and prenatal care, continuous hands-on assistance during labor and delivery, and postpartum support
-
minimizing technological interventions and
-
identifying and referring women/birthing people who require obstetrical attention.
The application of this model has been proven to reduce to incidence of birth injury, trauma, and cesarean section (The Midwives Model of Care, 2020).
